Volunteer Profile - Frank Levanti: At the Center of it All

Sep 22, 2014

Ted DeMaio from Becht Engineering BT, Inc. serves as a member of CAI's Member Engagement Committee. Each month, a member of that committee sits down with one of our active chapter volunteers to create a profile of them for our blog, @ Home with CAI.

Ted recently sat down with Frank Levanti, AMS, CMCA, PCAM from Select Property and Association Management, which is headquartered in Lancaster, PA. Frank presently serves as a member of CAI's Board of Directors and is the head of CAI's Central Pennsylvania Regional Council Steering Committee, which has made great strides both last year and this in helping to grow the central PA portion of our chapter by bringing exciting new programming to the area.

Q (Ted DeMaio): What do you find beneficial about being involved with CAI?

A (Frank Levanti): Being involved in CAI for close to twenty years has proven to be a valuable asset with both education I have received and contacts I have made with others in the industry. I have met a variety of professionals in the industry that have enhanced me both personally and professionally.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A:  love the fast pace and variety. I find the property management industry to be widely diverse and I feed on the diversity! I never quite know how my day may end! It truly keeps one on their toes!

Q: What lead you to a career in Property Management?

A: Real Estate was always a great interest of mine. I started “helping out” at my father’s real estate company when I was in college. He was a partner of a small real estate/property management company that needed some additional help. I helped answering the phones when I was home during the summers. As the company grew, and after I graduated, I began learning other facets of the job and enjoyed it.

Q: What do you find to be the most challenging part of your job?

A: The most challenging part of my job is keeping up! While I love the fast pace, one needs a fast pace and some wit to keep up!

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: I grew up in a small town in Berks County outside of Reading PA.

Q: What does your educational background look like?

A: I attended Penn State University where I received a Bachelors degree in Landscape Contracting with an emphasis in Business. I also completed Real Estate courses and received my PA Real Estate license in 1993. I soon joined CAI and began taking additional courses. Over the past years, I have received my AMS, CMCA and PCAM designations.

Q: How do you spend your free time?

A: I enjoy spending time with family and friends especially with my two daughters aged 11 and 15. I can often be found watching my youngest cheer for various school sporting events. I also travel to a variety of horse race tracks as my oldest has an extreme passion for the horse racing industry. She has her own blog, “Thirty-One Lengths”, on a national horse racing website, Horse Racing Nation. Through her blog, she now has press credentials, which gives her exclusive access to take photographs and conduct interviews at races. All three of us will be attending the Championship Breeder’s Cup this year in California. It’s exciting!

Ted: Thank you so much for telling me about yourself, Frank.

Frank: It's been my pleasure, Ted.
