Chapter Recognizes 2013 Annual Awards Recipients

CAI honored various individuals and organizations with the chapter's Annual Recognition Awards, including the Robert Wise President's Award, at our holiday party on December 12, 2013 at Pinecrest Country Club in Lansdale.

Robert Wise President's Award

 The prestigious Robert Wise President's Award was established in 1996 to honor former chapter president Robert Wise, principal and owner of Wise Management Company and who was an active member of this chapter for many years. The award is given out each year by the President of the Board to a chapter volunteer who has shown outstanding service and dedication to the chapter.

The 2013 Robert Wise President’s Award was presented to Gary Krimstock, Esq., with Fineman, Krekstein & Harris. Gary has been involved with the chapter for many years and was among the first volunteers to serve on the Philadelphia Regional Council when it was formed in 2009. Gary was elected to the chapter board of directors in 2008 and served as President of the chapter in 2012.Gary has provided sound advice and leadership during his board term and presidency and is truly a deserving recipient of the Robert Wise President’s Award.

Business Partner of the Year Award

The Business Partner of the Year is awarded to a CAI Member Business Partner who has provided extraordinary service and support to an individual community association and the industry as a whole.

The 2013 Business Partner of the Year is the law firm of Clemons, Richter & Reiss, PC, in Doylestown, PA. The firm has long been a supporter of the chapter in many ways, including volunteerism. Terry Clemons, Esq.’ a current member of the chapter board, served as chapter President in 1997. Diane Ramirez-Clemons, a current member of the chapter’s Golf Committee, served as chapter President in 2005. Stefan Richter, Esq., currently the chair of the Pennsylvania Legislative Action Committee, served as chapter President in 2010. They have also supported the chapter financially as a Premier Partner for many years and members of the firm have spoken at workshops and seminars. According to Meg Kitchin, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, who nominated the firm for the award, "Clemons, Richter & Reiss is committed to CAI and its principles. Without hesitation, they graciously offer their time, efforts and resources by sponsoring programs, writing articles, speaking at various programs and serving on committees. And they do it with a smile on their faces!"

Rookie of the Year Award

The Rookie of the Year is awarded to a volunteer in his or her first year of service who has gone above and beyond what is asked and expected of chapter volunteers.

The 2013 Rookie of the Year is Maryanne Larsen, with Community Association Underwriters.  Maryanne joined the Social Committee mid-way through the year and was a valuable contributor, helping find a location for the LAC Wine Dinner and recruiting sponsors for various programs. The chapter looks forward to Maryanne’s continued involvement in CAI!

Rising Star Award

The Rising Star is awarded to a volunteer with a minimum of two years of volunteer service who has displayed extraordinary commitment, leadership and contributions to the chapter.

The 2013 Rising Star is Rebecca Vorsteg, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, with Mid-Atlantic Management Corporation. Becky was nominated by several members of the Communications Committee, which she has very ably chaired for the last two years. Under Becky’s leadership, the chapter magazine has grown in size and relevant content, and the committee has begun contributing content to the chapter’s blog. The committee is also introducing new features for the magazine in 2014 and will be working with other committees on volunteer recognition in various forms. Congratulations Becky on your Rising Star Award!

Community Association Volunteer of the Year Award

The Community Association Volunteer of the Year is awarded to an individual volunteer within a community association who has excelled in his or her volunteer capacity.

The 2013 Community Association Volunteer of the Year is Terrance McGinn, with Morgan Creek Community Association. Terry was elected to the board of directors of Morgan Creek in September, 2012, the first all homeowner board this recently transitioned community. Terry is currently the board president and is part of a team of extremely devoted volunteer board members who are guiding their community in establishing a financially stable assocation with a strong sense of community. According to Cindy Simpson, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, who, along with his fellow board members, nominated Terry, "Terry as worked tirelessly on behalf of community residents. Terry made time to listen to owner's concerns and try to reach some equitable decisions on issues affecting them personally and the community at large."
